#CityPulse Wall to launch at Bournemouth game
SAP and Manchester City Unveil Interactive #CityPulse Wall to Enhance Fan Experience at Etihad Stadium
- #CityPulse Wall represents Premier League’s first fan-friendly, interactive digital installation featuring touchscreen interface and video display.

Manchester City and SAP SE, the Club’s official “Cloud Software Provider”, are delighted to announce that on Saturday, 17 September, they will unveil the #CityPulse Wall, the Premier League’s first fan-friendly, interactive digital wall featuring a touchscreen interface and video display, located in City Square – the social hub of the Etihad Stadium.
The #CityPulse Wall, powered by SAP HANA, was designed to enhance the matchday experience for fans and will help change the way fans access and consume football data.
At the #CityPulse Wall, fans can access data-driven insights, real-time statistics and player profiles for every player across Manchester City’s First Team, Women’s Team and Elite Development Squad. As a result of these insights, fans are also able to analyse their favourite players throughout the season and dive deeper into tailored performance indicators to get an in-depth look at how each Manchester City player is excelling on the pitch.
Furthermore, the #CityPulse Wall enables fans to engage with a live social media feed displaying fan conversation and sentiment, giving them another opportunity to connect with their fellow ‘Cityzens’ across the globe. Other features include player leader boards, matchday stats, head-to-head team comparisons, exciting video content, fan quizzes and polls, and a ‘memory maker’, with which fans can create and share their own unique, digital postcards.
SAP is also helping bring player, team and matchday data alive online via “widgets” on Manchester City’s new website www.mancity.com, making it possible for the Club’s 400 million followers across the globe to get closer to the action. Beginning on 17 September, fans can view three widgets on the website featuring a head-to-head record versus next opponent, a win-loss record for up to nine previous Manchester City matches and a real-time ball possession snapshot, with additional widgets planned for later in the season. SAP has developed visualised stats, including player profiles, team page and pre-/post-match recaps, that are now easily accessible via the Club’s new website.
To generate content for both the #CityPulse Wall and the online ‘widgets’, SAP HANA is storing the official player and match stats – provided by Opta – whilst SAP HANA Cloud Platform feeds the real-time data to both fan platforms.
Last season, SAP and Manchester City collaborated to provide fans with behind the scenes player stats via the City Matchday App and website, as well as access to in-game match data across the second tier LED at the Etihad Stadium. The #CityPulse Wall represents the next step in continuously enhancing the fan experience.
SAP Helps City Football Group & Manchester City Simplify Operations
In July 2015, SAP became the official “Cloud Software Provider” and a trusted technology advisor of City Football Group and its four clubs around the world, including Manchester City FC (Men and Women), New York City FC, Melbourne City FC and Yokohama F. Marinos. The ground-breaking global marketing and technology partnership focuses on transforming the way the ownership group and its football teams operate and perform, from the boardroom to the pitch.
Since the partnership began, all four clubs have been implementing a wide variety of cloud-based solutions powered by SAP HANA to simplify their world-wide operations, scale their business, increase productivity and enhance the fan experience. These solutions include the SAP® Jam™ social software platform that connects City Football Group’s global employee network and customer engagement solutions from SAP Hybris, which will soon to be in use to enable Manchester City to produce more powerful reports to evaluate how the Club is connecting with its fans and partners, allowing the team to continuously improve their communication and engagement with fans near and far.
On the pitch, City Football Services, who share footballing IP and “know-how” to recruit, develop, train and win, are working with SAP to advance their football software and develop co-innovation projects that will enhance player performance throughout the season.
