The Gilford MCSC were delighted and honoured to welcome the Premiership Trophy to our club base in Lurgan, N.Ireland on Thursday 11th October 2012, accompanied by ex-player Gary Owen, and Kevin Parker, head of the Manchester City Supporters Association.
Over 150 football fans from the area flocked to our local club throughout the night to glimpse and photograph the famous trophy, which was flanked by tight security for the duration of the visit.
The popular Owen conducted a ‘Question and Answer’ session, which he began by leading the crowd in a rendition of our new “YAYA/KOLO TOURE” chant..!!! He also shared a few comical stories from the past, and more than once referred to his admiration for our late fellow-countryman George Best.
The local TV station ‘UTV’ covered the event, and the highlights can be viewed on the following link
The club would really like to thank all at Manchester City for their help in putting this historic occasion together, including Sarah McBriar and of course Kevin Parker. Also to the Security guys, and not forgetting Gary Owen for the fun he brought to the night. Also a sincere word of thanks to Colin Wilson, head of the Cookstown Branch for his help in bringing the guests to and from Lurgan! Cheers Colin!
Lets hope the guys will be back again soon with a few other trophies in-tow!!
