Man City And West Ham’s Player Past
The Etihad Stadium will pay homage to celebrated player Marc-Vivien Foe, who played for both Manchester City and West Ham in his career, during the Premier League game tomorrow.
In light of this connection between the two teams we’ve taken a look at other players, past and present, who’ve competed for both sides.
The Northern Ireland player scored 44 goals for Manchester City in the six years he was with the club. Shortly after this he moved to West Ham in 2003 for one season, after which he went on to play for Ipswich
The 10th greatest ever midfielder (according to the Times in 2009) and Israeli Hall of Fame member was a favourite during his time at West Ham. He was also popular during his three years playing for Manchester’s Blues, scoring in his debut against Watford.
The South American icon has proved invaluable for both City and West Ham during his career. In his 29 appearances for the Hammers he made a big impression on the fans and even saved the side from relegation in 2006-7 with a winning goal at Old Trafford. City fans need no reminding of his contribution to the club and the sublime football that his pairing with Aguero has brought.
Ian Bishop saw service twice for Manchester City, with a long stint at West Ham in between. After 24 games for City in 1989 he became a regular choice at West Ham and played 255 time for them before returning to City again in 1998.
