Beer and Cider Festival 2014 at the Manchester Velodrome!

Whilst the combination of alcoholic beverages and bicycles may not seem like a sensible way to spend ones day, the Manchester Beer and Cider Festival aims to prove otherwise. With 16 bars serving 75 traditional ciders & perries, a selection of bottle conditioned ales, and over 300 of the finest cask conditioned craft ales all within the unique venue of Manchester’s famed Velodrome, the festival is set to be an excellent occasion.

The event is located in the centre of the Velodrome track, where visitors can peruse the many fine ales and ciders before enjoying some delicious grub (and of course, race related entertainment) on the concourse where seating can hold up to 1500. The Velodrome itself will be operational throughout the event, which is set to be occurring at the end of January (Wednesday 22nd to Saturday 25th).

And with the Manchester Velodrome being home to the Sky Team, who knows, you might even see the odd Olympian or two! Just don’t expect to ride any bikes once you have had a few…

“The centre is located on the SportCity complex in Eastlands, close to the Etihad Stadium and Asda Wal-Mart Eastlands. It is easily accessed from the city centre being served by its own Metrolink station Velopark and plentiful buses from Piccadilly. It can be reached on foot (or by bike) via a short walk from Ancoats up the Ashton canal.”

As an added bonus, visitors arriving by Metrolink can show their ticket and receive a £1 discount on entry!

With the festival beginning just a few days after the Premier League clash between City and Cardiff at the Etihad, it will be a great chance for football fans to recover from the drama by having a few beers and ciders with fellow blues!
