Kevin Parker talks about Uwe Rosler’s return & the FA Cup quarter-final
Watch Capital FM’s exclusive interview with Kevin Parker from Manchester City Supporters Club, where he talks about Uwe Rosler’s much anticipated return to the Etihad Stadium this weekend – not as a fan, but as manager of Wigan Athletic in the quarter final of the FA Cup.
I’m sure that every City fan knows who Uwe Rosler is, and that he is a City fan himself, so when he comes to the Etihad Stadium this Sunday as manager of the opposition team, I’m sure that it will be a very strange and emotional experience for everyone involved at Manchester City.
In Wigan’s pre-match press conference yesterday, Uwe admitted that he won’t “deny his past” when he makes his return to Manchester, and that he’ll have to break his “emotional bond” with his former club when the two teams square-off – but only for 90 minutes!
However, he insists that the game should not be about him – it should be about “Wigan Athletic facing Manchester City” and that “The focus and recognition should be on our players” when the two teams face.
The last time City faced Wigan was in the Capital One Cup earlier this season, when the Blues annihilated Wigan 5-0 at home. But last season it was Wigan that came out on top, after a late goal by Ben Watson in the FA Cup Final at Wembley secured their first ever trophy in 81 years of existence – only to be relegated to the Championship just over a week later.
One things for sure – both teams will be seeking revenge for their previous woes, so it has all the makings to be a fantastic game for all to enjoy!
