Manchester United vs Manchester City: Build-Up, Stats & Predictions

City go into this game…
  • Needing to win their games in hand in order to catch up to Chelsea, who are 6 points clear at the top of the table
  • As clear favourites to win, having won 4 out of the last 5 derbies in the League, and because of United’s poor home form this season
  • Having scored 7 goals and conceded 0 in the last 2 games
  • Without their top scorer Sergio Aguero, or Serbian centre-back Matija Nastasic
  • At one of the most pivotal points in their season

… so no pressure, lads!

What happened last time…

The last time City played United they won 4-1 at home, here are some highlights to refresh your memory!

Team prediction…

I predict 3 changes from the side which beat Fulham 5-0 at the weekend, with Clichy coming in for Kolarov (to counter the pace of Valencia down the wings), Navas instead of Milner (to add some extra width) and Kompany in placement of Lescott (because it’s Kompany!).

MCFC v MUFC Starting XI Prediction

Who to look out for…

With Robin Van Persie out through injury, Wayne Rooney will be United’s biggest threat going forward, especially after his impressive goal-scoring form in recent games…

Score prediction…

This is a hard one to predict, because both teams have had good form in recent games (and it’s a derby!), but I’m going to go with 4-2 to City – but I won’t rule out any scoreline at this stage! 😉
