Over the last few months, City fans have joked around with the fact that the deal to secure the French international has taken so long. The hashtag #WheresMangala was qucikly adopted on Twitter, and is one of the jokes which caught on the most.
The 23-year-old, who is now City’s fourth signing as the summer, will be joined by former teammate Fernando Reges when he arrives at the Etihad, as well as fellow French internationals Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Bacary Sagna.
Although a doubt for the game against Newcastle on Sunday, it’s expected that he will fit straight into the squad alongside City’s skipper Vincent Kompany.
It has been confirmed that he will wear the number 20 shirt for the 2014/15 season.
