The Argentine, who will wear the no. 30 shirt this season, had been on the radar of several top clubs this summer but in the end found the idea of joining the Blues to be too tempting.
Recognised as one of the continent’s best central defenders, Nicolas Otamendi leaves Valencia where his performances earned him a place in La Liga’s 2014/15 Team of the Season.
During his time in La Liga and at previous club FC Porto, Otamendi has picked up the reputation of being a “no nonsense” defender who finds nothing more satisfying than winning a good tackle.
In the summer, the 27-year old was a teammate of Sergio Aguero, Martin Demichelis and Pablo Zabaleta as Argentina reached the Copa America final – so no doubt these three along with Willy Caballero will hit it off right from the word go!
