Report: Liverpool 3-0 Manchester City – 02/03/2016
City’s title hopes suffered another major blow as Liverpool gained some revenge for Sunday’s League Cup final defeat with a deserved win at Anfield
The Blues just edged the game at Wembley on penalties, but were second best against a fired-up home side.
Adam Lallana’s low drive caught out the returning Joe Hart giving Liverpool the initial lead, before former City player James Milner poked in a second.
Raheem Sterling, who was shown no mercy by Kop fans, was taken off at half-time before Roberto Firmino fired in a third to ultimately finish City off.

A slight consolation on the night was that league leaders Leicester were the only side above City to pick up a point in these midweek fixtures, but City’s third successive Premier League defeat means they are now 10 points behind Claudio Ranieri’s side.
The Blues also need to be aware of the teams behind them now.
Manchester United are now level on points with them after their win over Watford, while West Ham, Stoke and Klopp’s side lie just short of a top-four spot.
