Tony Leighton – a tribute from fellow committee member and friend, Nigel Roden – “What a tragic and premature end of Tony. Thankfully a peaceful one without
pain. He led such an active life with all his animal friends, his beautiful
wife Alma and brother in law Brian..I remember meeting him for first time at
at the Crown pub on Didsbury Road, Heaton, Mersey, Stockport. He was the life
and soul of the pub and when City beat United not a regular occurrence in those
days. By 6pm the place was packed and Tony would lead the singing of City
anthems of the day. It was an unexpected pleasure to meet up again at the Cyprus
Citizens having not seen each other for 30 years. .Cyprus Citizens is The
Supporters Club of Man City. None of us expected the success that followed.
Throughout we still had our Manchester humour and Tony’s was “another wasted
corner’ He was usually right. He saw them win 2 League Championships the F.A.Cup
    and the League Cup.

Throughout his life he was loved by his beautiful wife Alma whom he adored. She
would grace us with her presence when all their pets would let her and all the
    time in his latter weeks

Not just City fans but everybody who knew him was nothing but impressed by his
energy for life and his dogs took pride of place. He will be missed
particularly Alma but as the pain lessens She like all his friends and City fans
will feel privileged to have known him.. He was one of life’s characters and
life feels a little emptier without him. City fans know he will be there for the
start of the new season; just as Alma will feel his presence
    when walking the dogs

It only remains to say on behalf of us all to say Tony rest in peace

    From all City fans”

Tony Leighton – a tribute from fellow committee member and friend, Douglas Hudson – “Every time City get a corner I will think of Tony`s comment “another fruitless corner“. Like you say Nigel I only met Tony in Cyprus through our supporters club but he was truly one of lifes characters and like you I will sorely miss him but always have fond memories paricularly when he sang with our group around my pool at my birthday celebrations, now almost three years ago, a wonderful rendition of Blue Moon. Likewise my thoughts go out to Alma and all his family. Tony will be sorely missed and may he rest in peace and keep a wind eye over City`s corners.”
