The Etihad Stadium becomes ‘Pokemon Go’ hotspot
It turns out that the Etihad Stadium isn’t just the home of Manchester City any more, it’s also the location of a new ‘Gym’ on the Pokemon Go app
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past week or so, you’ll probably be aware of the new mobile app that’s been slowly taking over the world – Pokemon Go.
For those who don’t know, Pokemon Go is a spin on the classic game where you have to ‘find’ Pokemon roaming around where you are – which is done by cleverly blending virtual reality with what you see in front of you.
There’s also these things called ‘Pokemon Gyms’ dotted around that give players the chance to battle each other to try and gain control over that area for their ‘team’ – and it just so happens that the Etihad Stadium is one of those areas!
There's a #PokemonGO Gym at the Etihad Stadium…

Of course, the above tweet has sparked lots of rival fans to mock the fact that City are encouraging people to visit the Etihad as according to them “it’s the only way they’ll get people to go there”, but we all know that’s nonsense *cough* third highest average Premier League attendance last season *cough*
