Man City Women: Champions of England!

Man City Women have won the Women’s Super League title for the first time!

The Blues only needed to avoid defeat to guarantee top spot, however they did one better with a 2-0 victory over Chelsea Ladies on Sunday afternoon.

Chelsea captain Katie Chapman, under pressure from Jill Scott, diverted Toni Duggan’s corner into her own net 12 minutes before half-time.

Duggan added the second from the penalty spot after full-back Lucy Bronze was fouled by Gilly Flaherty.

City’s victory – in front of a record crowd of more than 4,000 – took them 10 points clear of second-placed Chelsea.

Nick Cushing’s side can win a second trophy of 2016 on 2nd October, when they face Birmingham City in the Continental Cup final.
