0 and Manchester City launch ‘This City Is Ours’

Global giants join forces to highlight the real people who make this game beautiful

Today, the leading web development platform (Nasdaq: WIX) marks the start of the new English football season by launching a new campaign showcasing the true fans behind Manchester City Football Club who bring pride to their city.

As Manchester City’s official website design & hosting partner, will kick off the first fan engagement activity for the season by unveiling “This City is Ours,” a stunning website dedicated to the fans keeping the city blue.

The website will showcase images of some of the truest Manchester City fans and the codes they live by, beginning with seven fans from in and around the Manchester area, who share their personal stories and experiences related to the club.

The seven lucky featured fans hail from all areas of the city with some very different backgrounds. They include some serious Manchester City diehards:

Seven year old Braydon Bent (top left) from Lynn who keeps his father’s seat from the old stadium at Maine Road in his own bedroom;

Forty-five year old barber Jason Mellowes (top right) who now lives in Stockport, whose Uncle Derek drove the team to Wembley for their 1969 FA Cup Final win;

Thirty-four year old tattooist Wayne Coyle (bottom left) from Droylsden, who runs a charity called Community Barbers that has given over 1,000 free haircuts to people over 60 (note, are providing Wayne with a dedicated web site for his free haircut charity);

And finally Jake Harrison (bottom right).

This City is Ours will also feature more fan profiles, competitions and unique content from the Club throughout the coming season, highlighting the fans as the driving force behind City’s success.

“Passionate about the game, these true fans are upholding the values of the game and act as global role models for others. As our two brands share values and vision we wanted to showcase these people on a global stage using our technology, a strong, passionate and honorable reflection of Manchester City Football Club and the English game,” says CMO Omer Shai.

Their passion and support is invaluable to everyone at the Club and Wix’s ‘This City is Ours’ is a unique opportunity to highlight their stories. Like Wix, we strive to be innovative and creative in every project we undertake and we believe this new website not only does that, but also offers a new platform on which we can bring our fans closer together.”

This City is Ours launches at on 15th August. Further fans will be profiled throughout the season.


Wix are asking fans to tell them what being a City fan means to them! To take part in this contest, simply replying to Wix’s Facebook post directly in the comments with either text, an image, or video. Wix will then choose the top three entries and let those people know they’ve won.

  • Contest will be live from 15th August (from 12 Noon) – 19th August 2016
  • Winners will be announced on 22nd August 2016
  • Prizes will be 3 signed items by Aguero
  • 1st place is signed Jersey, 2nd and 3rd signed ball
